Climbing The Mountain

I have never climbed an actual mountain, although I have been on some pretty steep hills riding horses. And even though I have only watched professional rock climbers from the safety of the ground, I can't help but compare it to our journey as Christians.

Isaiah 2:2-3 says, "come let us to up to the mountain of the Lord". It is a prophetic passage that tells us one day that God's mountain will rise above the others and that all nations will stream to it. Below are some truths we can glean from climbing our mountain and the journey we take in this world as a believer in Christ:

  • Sometimes you find a temporary ledge where you feel safe/secure

  • Sometimes you are exposed to the elements

  • Sometimes your foot slips

  • You are always searching for a "strong hold"

  • When you slip (and you will) hold on!

  • Make sure you are using the right "Anchor"

  • It is better to make the climb/journey with a friend that speaks the same language and has the same goal(s)

  • ALWAYS LOOK UP TO WHERE YOU ARE HEADING AND NOT DOWN TO WHERE YOU HAVE BEEN

Our climb in this life can be scary, exhausting and frustrating at times. Jesus promises that the view from the top is going to be worth it. I believe Him. Do you?
