Open Your Eyes

Have you ever squinted while looking at a bright light? Or, like me when trying to read small print? Whatever the case may be, all of us have done so while trying to see better. What we forget when doing so is we miss the entire view. Similar to reading God's Word, we sometimes squint and only see a particular verse and not the entire passage. Psalm 119:18 says, Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law. We miss things when we do not have our eyes fully open. Every day is filled with the wonders of God. How much do we miss by only seeing some of them?

Let us look in 2 Kings 6:17 where there is a specific prayer for eyes to be fully open. Elisha was in Dothan with a small group of men where they were surrounded by members of the Syrian army. Men who were with Elisha panicked when they only focused on the enemy. And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha (verse 17). God heard and answered Elisha's prayer. The men's view changed.

Today, I encourage you to full open your eyes to see what God has planned for you. It is a beautiful view...
