The Power of the Tongue

Proverbs 15:4 tells us, The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit. Oh how many times we wish we could take back words that were said in haste and not with the love of Jesus in our hearts. Words can build up or tear down. They can support and encourage or bring depression and uncertainty.

As a young trooper in the highway patrol, I remember learning very early on in my career it is not what we say but how we say it. What a great lesson for all of us! As we communicate with one another, let us always do so from a "tree of life" approach: nurturing, supporting and helping that person to grow. Whether we are uplifting, encouraging or providing constructive criticism I encourage you to say this small prayer before you speak: Lord, let me think with Your Mind, see with Your Eyes, speak with Your Tongue and love with Your Heart.

Continue to lift up each other and prayer and enjoy the blessings God has given you today and the rest of this week...
