Paul's letter to the church in Philippi is filled with instruction, encouragement and hope. As he sits in prison for his faith (in action), Paul writes that there can be joy in suffering for Christ. He speaks to the church about humility and unity. In the second chapter (3-4), Paul describes it like this, Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

What if we, individually and collectively, turned our attention from who is and what is to HE is? What if we focused our energy on supporting and loving one another through kinds words and prayer in spite of our differences? What if we decided to stop worrying about who is temporarily in charge and turn our attention to Who has been and always will be in charge?

What if, one by one, we make a daily, conscious effort to make our homes, schools and communities a better place through our collective efforts to be better citizens? What if we began to care for ourselves and others instead of relying on someone else to do it for us?

Our world has become defensive and self-centered. Both are tactics the enemy loves to use when he wants to divide us. We were created for fellowship. We were created to labor for one another. Jesus came to this earth and modeled what servant leadership looks like. What if we started living the same way?
