What World Are You From?

We live in strange times to say the least. For many of us, the world seems upside down. Right has become wrong and good has become bad. Common decency and shared moral compasses seemed to have all but vanished. As bad as this world can feel sometimes (to a Christian, it should never feel quite like home), people have been struggling with these issues since Jesus walked and lived on this earth.
In the book of Romans, the apostle Paul tells us to not be conformed to this world. Society has become really good at tempting us to conform. Look at some of the ways: social media, television, emphasis on materialistic things, ways to be accepted or popular in the world's eyes. All of which become unhealthy and damaging when placed as priority in our lives.
Paul goes on to say we, as believers, can be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Not ever wanting to add or take away from God's Word, I would tell you that this renewing needs to be on a daily basis. As you talk to Him daily, seek the renewing of your mind through the eyes of Jesus.
John 17:16 says, "They are not of the world, even as I am not of it". As the body of Christ, we, just like Jesus, have been born into and live in this world. However, we are not of the things of this world. In other words, we cast our eyes up to heaven instead of down to focus on the perceived importance of today that is gone tomorrow and replaced with something else.
I encourage you today to focus on God and His Word while you enjoy the blessings of this world. Whether it be spending time with family, working at your job or worshiping at your church, renew your mind and transform your thoughts to focus on Jesus. I speak from experience when I tell you that doing so will allow you to enjoy your life and live more abundantly!
See you in church...
Pastor Aaron
