A Good Thing

Today, Lovel and I are celebrating our 31st anniversary. It is incredible to think we have shared a majority of our lives together. From the moment I laid eyes on her during a summer job at Bob Evans Farms, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. I will tell you it took a little convincing from me for her to agree!

Married at 21 and 19 years old respectively, I have watched her grow as a wife, mother and now grandmother. More importantly, I have watched her grow in her faith. Each time I see Lovel interact with her children, there is an undeniable love there. I see the same selfless care and devotion to our church family. She has, without a doubt, embraced the roles that God has blessed her with.

Has Lovel been the perfect wife? Mother? Grandmother? The bible tells us that none of us are perfect. When she has fallen short, it was done while striving to be the best wife, mother or granmother she could be. Even during those times of frustration that happen in every relationship, I have never doubted her love for family and for Jesus.

The Book of Proverbs is full of helpful advice, much of which reads like a father speaking to his son. In the 18th chapter (verse 22) tells us, He who finds a wife finds a good thing

and obtains favor from the Lord.

In a world full of people that are focused on their own wants and needs, I have been blessed with a best friend who has always tried to put her family's needs first in her life and her continued sacrifice has not gone unnoticed.

Happy Anniversary Lovel Delores, you are my good thing...
