Being a Soldier

This weekend, our country is celebrating and recognizing military veterans that have sacrificed so that we may enjoy the freedoms so often we take for granted. It grieves me to see that some celebrations have been cancelled due to lack of funding and attendance. Whoa to us if we forget those that have given us victory.

Did you know as Christians, we are a part of God's army? Just like soldiers in the military, we have certain duties. We can find these "marching orders" in the bible. Ecclesiastes 12:13 tells us to "fear God and keep His commandments for this is the whole duty of man." After His death, resurrection and ascension to heaven, Jesus also gave His followers the great commission.

I invite you to take a moment this weekend to reflect on the ultimate sacrifice by so many men and women who were willing to give the last full measure and lay down their lives for fellow citizens of the United States. In doing so, I also encourage you to take a moment and reflect on Jesus who also willingly gave the last full measure by dying on a cross for you and me. Let us never forget our current military men and women, veterans or our Savior that sacrificed...

See you in church...
