Chasing Happiness

Are you truly happy with life itself? Do you look at it as a gift from God? Have you found contentment or are you still looking? Unfortunately, there are many Christians that profess Christ, go to church and try to live a moral life but still seem miserable.
In the fourth chapter of Phillipians, Paul tells us he has found contentment no matter what situation he found himself in. Highs or lows, good times or bad, Paul’s contentment was in Christ and not in the material possessions, relationships or financial well being that can provide us temporary happiness. Paul wanted the church of Philippi to find this same type of contentment. What about your friends and family? Have they found the peace and happiness found through a relationship with Jesus? As much as we want it for them, finding true contentment in life is an individual journey for each of us.
Does Jesus want us to be happy? Absolutely! Look in The Book of John (10:10) where Jesus tells us I came that they might have life more abundantly.
Do you feel like you are just getting by or barely making it through life? This is not the life Jesus wants for you. It is important to notice that Jesus told us he was leaving us peace, not giving it to us. Why is it important to see the difference? Unlike life that was gifted to us, we have the freewill to accept or reject Jesus’ offer of peace through a personal relationship with him. Jesus never forced himself on anyone during his time on earth just like He will never force it on you or me.
If you haven’t been able to find lasting happiness in the world maybe you are looking in the wrong places…
