Chasing The Wind

Tag is (still) a popular game with kids. It is a great way to get some fresh air, exercise and competition. It is also a great way to learn how to manage frustration! My memories of playing tag revolve around getting caught almost every time but never being able to tag a lot of people. I was always trying to find anyone that I may have had a chance of catching.

Sometimes, our adult lives feel like that. We seem to be extremely busy without being able to accomplish our goal(s). We wear ourselves out without "catching" anyone or anything. It can be extremely frustrating to come home from work exhausted and struggle to list any meaningful accomplishments. Like the wind, we can find ourselves going in different directions depending on the conditions.

The writer of Ecclesiastes was frustrated, as well, with life. He speaks about how pointless or meaningless life can seem. In the fourteenth verse of the first chapter, he says,  I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind. In other words, he feels like he is wasting his days with little or no results.

As Christians, we should be chasing three things in life: God, His Plan and His Will. If we focus on Him, we shall mount up with wings as eagles.. run and not be weary,... walk and not faint. Are you feeling exhausted? If so, I encourage you to revisit your schedule.
