Has anyone ever felt like failure? Whether it be at a certain task, goal, job or role we have attempted in life most of have experienced the pain of failure. As you reflect back on these times in your life, how did you handle it? Did you use it as motivation to work harder? Did you use it as an excuse to give up? Let me dig a little deeper: who told you that you failed? In other words, who are you listening to?
Like many things in life, I believe the very definition of failure and the impact it can have on our lives comes down to perspective. The world seems extremely quick (and maybe even eager) to point out our failures, faults and disappointments. In fact, many of us have had people in our lives that seem to feel better about themselves when they can point out the failure in others. I believe the enemy loves when we listen to the world; when we allow their opinion(s) to negatively impact our outlook on life and ultimately our testimony.
Psalm 31:10 may describe what some of you are filling: For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed. Listening to the world can be a dangerous and depressing characteristic. Along with many people in the Bible, Job most definitely experienced this when he uttered My soul is weary of my life.
Thanks be to an all present God, we do not have to fear failure. With the confidence in His love for us, I encourage you to NOT be afraid of failure. Just remember when you work, work for His glory. When you spend time with friends and family, do so for His glory and when you share blessings in your life, do it for His glory…
