Did You Forget?

Our days are filled with tasks, appointments, schedules and calendars.  We need reminder notes to remind us not to forget and passwords (that we forget) to log into our own information.  As I continue this journey of life, I have come to the conclusion I suffer from memory overload more than memory loss.  Our brains were created with a capacity and I feel mine has been reached!  Still, it is incredible the memories of life I remember.

Thoughts of a childhood filled with love and laughter.  A time of innocence that can never be experienced again.  Teenage years that brought recognition and success as an athlete.  But along with those achievements came a calling to do something more.  Married, the start of a career and children in my early 20s, those precious memories seem to be fading as the years pass.

Now, Lovel and I are grandparents to three beautiful boys; gifts from God.  And, just like our grown children we believe they still belong to Him.  We have simply been chosen to be their mom, dad, coco and poppy.  Just like the ones before, this season of life brings countless blessings and precious memories.  Some I will remember forever; while others may fade from my mind.  I am so grateful for pictures that scroll across my screen and spark a memory and put a smile on my face.

Sadly, we often times forget Jesus.  Not meaning to, we jumpstart our days with social media, news of the world, traffic reports, caffeine and a quick prayer.  Throughout our day, schedules and appointments occupy our minds and we forget.  Forget to stop and breathe.  Forget to pause and say, “Thank you Lord”.  We forget to spend time with Him each day in fellowship and in prayer.  And, perhaps most disheartening, we forget what Jesus has done for us.  Psalm 103:2 tells us to not God, Bless the Lord, oh my soul and forget not His benefits. Have you not heard?  Do you not remember?   Jesus bled on the cross and came out of that tomb to live for AND with us!

All of us forget things from time to time.  Let our collective prayer be that we never forget Jesus…
