During this time of the year we can become overwhelmed with the giving and receiving of gifts. In the Bible, there are references to several examples of spiritual gifts. However, there are seven specific gifts that come directly from Jesus and are afforded to all who have accepted Him as their Personal Savior.

  1. Rest (Matthew 11:28) - Do we think of rest as a gift? Do we recognize the biblical schedule of finding rest in the sabbath?

  2. Keys of the Kingdom (Matthew 16:19) - Jesus has given us eternal life that can be enjoyed in both this world and in heaven. What we do with these keys has been left up to us. The Bible refers to crowns in heaven for the work done on earth.

  3. Power over Evil Spirits (Luke 10:19) - as believers, we have the power of the Holy Spirit within us.

  4. Living Water (John 4:14) - whoever drinks this water will never be thirsty again!

  5. Bread of Heaven (John 6:51) - Jesus is the Bread and when any man or woman partakes (salvation and also recognized through communion) he or she shall have eternal life.

  6. Eternal Life (John 10:28) - our free will to choose or refuse.

  7. Legacy of Peace (John 14:27) - a peace unlike any that can be found in the world.

As we experience the joys of the holiday season and the exchanging of material gifts, do we also accept these gifts from Jesus?
