Will We Be Known In Heaven?

The Bible speaks in detail about who we will be in heaven. Our earthly bodies are patterned after that of the first man (Adam); while our heavenly bodies will resemble the resurrected body of Jesus. The Apostle Paul speaks of this in two of his letter to churches. The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven (1 Corinthians 15:47). Who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself (Philippians 3:21).

We can also look in the Book of Matthew (17:3-4) where we read about Jesus' transfiguration. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. In this passage, Peter is stunned to see all three figures together and even suggests they make tents for each. Here, it is important to note that Peter recognizes Moses and Elias (Elijah) even though they had already gone home to be with the Lord. Even more incredible when we remember Peter never met Moses or Elijah when they walked the earth. In the 20th chapter of John, Jesus appears to both Mary and His disciples at separate times. Many may argue that Jesus was NOT recognizable by either. If you study God's Word closely, you will see that He, in fact, was. Think of it in terms of human emotion: Mary and the disciples had just witnessed the torturing and brutal death of their beloved Son and Brother. Perhaps their eyes were initially cast down (mourning) when He appeared to them. Or, perhaps their eyes could not recognize Him until their brains had time to adjust to the fact that He had risen!

Concerning our relationship to family members: we will all be able to recognize and reunite with our loved ones. What a wonderful hope that is. However, there will be no need to serve in the role of husband, wife, or parent in heaven. Our marriage will be with the Lamb and the need to be married or serve as a parent will no longer exist. All of us will be surrounded by and filled with the presence and love of the Son and the Father. Jesus explains it beautifully in the Book of Luke (20:34-35), Jesus answered and said to them, The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage. But those who are counted worthy to attain this age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage.

Will I be known as Aaron Michael Quinn when I go home to heaven? Absolutely. But, even more important I will be better known as a child of the King. And so will you when you turn your life over to Him...
