Here I Am, Send Me

In the sixth chapter of Isaiah, God is asking a rhetorical question, "Whom shall I send?" In fact, when you think about it all of God's questions are rhetorical; He already has all the answers! In verse eight, Isaiah boldly answers God's call. Notice he doesn't put any restrictions on what (or where) he is willing to do (or go) for God.

Through the Great Commission, we too must be willing to go; to share Jesus with our family, friends, job, church, community AND wherever the Spirit leads us. Ask yourself this question: are you truly willing to mind the Lord without restrictions? Have you followed the chastening of the Spirit each time He has called you? This is an important question, one in which we need to be honest with ourselves. Remember Isaiah's answer? He didn't say "Here am I, send me but only to these people or these places."

Let us look at the Easter story. Jesus knew exactly what was coming but still said here am I send me (not my will, but your will be done). Jesus said send me to beaten, send me to be crucified and send me to die. Even more, I am thankful He is sitting in heaven at the right hand of His Father ready to be sent again!

Would Jesus not be justified if He said, haven't I already done my duty? Thanks be to God, His Son is still willing to go all the way. Are you?

See you in church tomorrow...
