I Believe

During this time of the year, it seems like more people are willing to believe in something. However, the question remains are they willing to also accept those same things. In the Book of Luke (18:17), we read about becoming child-like. And like a child, I believe in the spirit of Christmas. A spirit of giving, joy, good feelings toward others and the wonder of a child.

Jesus speaks of a child-like faith that is innocent, teachable with little to no preconceived notions. As adults we bring a lot of baggage. We put stipulations on our prayers, expectations on God’s timing and limitations of doubt on our faith. This Christmas, I encourage you to reflect on what we have to believe in:

  • Answer to prayer (Mark 11:24)

  • Eternal life (John 3:14)

  • Spiritual fullness (John 6:35)

  • Spiritual light (John 12:46)

  • Strength in service (John 14:12)

  • Salvation (Romans 1:16)

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus which is the reason for the season, do not get so caught up in the “adult” requirements of the holidays with gifts, food, schedules and decorations. Rather, as you enjoy the blessings God has given you do so with a child-like faith. You may just be amazed at the view. As Jesus said in Matthew 9:23 All things are possible to him that believeth.
