I Would Rather Be Poor

Probably not the title most people would find helpful or interesting when reading a blog or social post. Even so, there is much biblical truth to this statement. Proverbs 28:6 tells us, Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways.

In my life, I have witnessed both sides of this passage. I have seen people choose money over morals and I have seen others choose righteousness over wealth. The Bible speaks of the danger surrounding money. Jesus tells us in the book of Matthew (6:24) No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

The subject of money can bring out the best and worst of people. If you truly want to know someone's heart, start a conversation about finances. Be prepared for what you experience when you do!

I can tell you this: there is not a job, status, office or possession that is worth more than your integrity...

This Sunday at Otsego First Baptist, we will be celebrating my ordination as a congregation followed by a carry-in dinner. It is going to be an AMAZING day. I hope to see all of you there; feel free to bring as many friends and family as you like!
