One Nation Under God

As we look forward to celebrating the Independence from Great Britain's rule, I see many Americans who are unhappy with the United States to the point of supporting those that want to do it harm. It is heartbreaking to see a country founded on the biblical principle that all men (and women) are created equal be do divided when it has been incredibly blessed.

It would be foolish to believe that everything is wonderful in America. Since God created Adam and Eve, there has been challenges, trials, tribulations and hard times. We are no more immune to it than the generations that preceded us. Where ever there are people, there will also be problems. Regardless of your political affiliation or viewpoint, the United States of America was founded with the thought of freedom in mind, specifically the freedom of religion to worship how you felt appropriate. The ugly truth is that some have corrupted that cornerstone of freedom to further their own agendas. The Bible is full of examples and so is the history of America.

The media tells us that many Americans are not satisfied with our society or government. Are there ways we can improve? Absolutely. Yet we sit in our modern homes with clean running water, electricity, heat, air conditioning, televisions and smart phones and still we are unhappy.

We complain about the moral decay of society and rise of crime sitting idly by while many demonize law enforcement for the inexcusable acts of a few. To escape these horrible conditions, we hop in our car and travel from state to state without fear. Along the way there are hundreds of restaurants and hotels to chose from all for our convenience. Yet, we are still not satisfied.

In times such as this, I am even more thankful that we have the Word of God to go to. 1 Peter 2: 15-17 tells us this, For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men. As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as servants of God. Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

"To him that has an ear, let him hear"...
