Someone Is Teaching Them

As they grow, children instinctively learn. It has been shown that what our young people learn during the early stages of life is often carried with them into adulthood. That is why Vacation Bible School (VBS) is so important. This week, Otsego First Baptist is faithfully hosting another week of VBS for young people in the area. I am blessed to be a part of a church that has members willing to give of their time, energy, talents and love for Jesus. It is re-energizing to stop by and talk with the kids as they are learning about the Bible and how God loves them.

Proverbs 22:6 tells us to Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Make no mistake, our children are learning from someone. As the body of Christ, it is our responsibility to truthfully and lovingly share the good news of Jesus. If just one child's life is changed for the better, all of the effort that goes into VBS is worth it.

If you have time this week, I encourage you to stop out and allow God to bless your day with the kids who are at Otsego First Baptist's VBS. And while you are there tell them it takes courage to stand up for what you believe in, especially in this world!

If your home church no longer hosts VBS, I encourage you to be an instrument to bring it back. Jesus often spoke about the importance of our children, now maybe more than ever...
