Stand in the Gap

Throughout the bible, we find God searching for people to stand in the gap: Moses, Noah, Ezekiel, Joseph and Daniel just to name a few. In the 22nd chapter of the Book of Ezekiel, verse 30 the prophet speaking on behalf of God says, And I sought for a man among them, that they should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
Gideon was also raised up by God to stand in the gap. The Israelites were in trouble and it seemed like their situation was hopeless. It is important to note that they were in this predicament because they failed to listen to God (Judges 6). God spoke to Gideon, who was considered the weakest member of the weakest family. and called him a warrior (mighty man). Even in the Almighty's presence with proof all around him, Gideon still questioned Him. "Are you sure you have the right person?" "Are you sure I can do it?" Are you sure this will work?" Sometimes we are just like Gideon, having trouble with believing in the power of an all knowing, all powerful and all present Savior.
After some convincing and separating the men from boys (God purposely reduced the size of the army to 300) Gideon boldly followed God's command, stood in the gap, defeated an enemy that appeared to outnumber him and save the Israelites from God's justifiable wrath.
Our world is in trouble, are you willing to stand in the gap?
