The Lights of Christmas

One of my favorite memories involves Mom and Dad loading all of us up in the car to drive around town and look at Christmas lights, especially if it was snowing! As a family, we loved looking at all their beauty while talking about family, friends and gifts. There was a feeling of joy, peace and excitement at the same time.

Millions of homes have trees, wreaths and garlands decorated with beautiful, bright lights. Children and adults will pause to look at them possibly to experience those same warm feelings I felt as a child.

There is power in light. Whether it be holiday lights, a campfire or a simple candle during Christmas Eve holiday service as His creation we are attracted to light. It is mesmerizing. For Christians, we have an eternal (God) and internal (Holy Spirit) light that guides us, warms us and protects us.

As you witness the wonders of this Christmas season and enjoy all of the beautiful lights, I encourage you to take a moment and thank God for His Light.

See you in church tomorrow...
