40 Day Cleanse

As we journey through this time of year between the birth of Christ, His death and resurrection, many of us are seeking a cleansing of our minds, bodies and souls. Today, a popular health trend is internal cleansing supplements. For some, this is a way to restore better physical health. Its purpose is to flush out all of the nasty toxins in our bodies. Unfortunately, once someone stops taking the supplements, all of the bad stuff quickly returns.

The thought of internal cleansing is based on biblical principle (even though the world will try to convince us they thought of it first ;-) . The Apostle Paul tells the church in Corinth that they are the temple of God. He is speaking both about the physical church and the believers that worship inside it. However, unlike today's popular health trends, Paul is encouraging us to care for the entire temple: mind, body and soul. In other words a holistic approach to a healthier life.

During this time, when many are celebrating Lent, I encourage you to give your holistic well-being some much needed attention. Your mind and body need rest, while your soul needs nourished. A greater relationship with Jesus can provide all of these things. I encourage you to get started on your 40 day cleanse!
