Along with so many other things, the Bible is a book of action. Within its' pages we find the word "go" more than 1,500 times (compared to the word "stay" which is only mentioned 62 times). As you begin to immerse yourself in God's Word, it does not take long that He expects and encourages us to move forward on His behalf. Throughout both the Old and New Testament, we are given example after example of individuals who "go" for God.

Reading in the Book of Psalms (32:8-9) we find this commandment from God, I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, else they will not come near you. Notice God is not just telling us "good-bye and good luck". He instructs us to go AND promises to be our personal instructor, teacher and guide. It is also important to note God warns that going shouldn't have to be forced; comparing having to make a horse go one direction or the other. Or desire and willingness should be a natural part of our faith and desire to honor Him.

Perhaps the greatest example is when Jesus gave us the Great Commission before He ascended to heaven after His death and resurrection. In the Book of Mark (28:18-20), we read these words, And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.

Also found in Mark (16:15), Luke (24:46-48) and John (20:21), the Great Commission is Jesus' final command for each of us to go. Jesus shares that He now has ALL authority in heaven and on earth. And, with that authority (given to Him by God) He is commanding us not to sit idly on our faith. Christ expects us to share what He has done for us and what He can do for others. It is important to note that Jesus did not tell us to just share our faith with family and close friends. Or to just those we may bump into during our daily schedule. He charges and challenges us to go unto all the nations!

Stuck in neutral in your walk with Jesus? I encourage you to have the faith and confidence to move forward in the direction He wants you to go...
