Are You Getting Your Hands Dirty?
Contrary to what some might think or say, the Gospel is not neat and clean. It is not always easy. Sometimes you have to get your hands dirty. Unfortunately, we have many Christians not willing to dig in the dirt. Instead, they would rather talk about Jesus from the sidelines where it is safe and comfortable.
Similar to Pontius Pilate during Jesus' trial, there are those who have decided to "wash their hands" of Jesus. In the Book of Matthew (27:24), we read of Pilate's reasoning for doing so, When Pilate saw that he could not prevail, but rather that a tumult was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this just person. See ye to it.” Notice that, when things got dififcult and uncomfortable, Pilate decided to take the easy way out. Instead of speaking into this world like Christ did during His earthly ministry; many are cheering on others to find hope without doing the dirty, but necessary work.
Are you afraid of getting your hands dirty? If so, I challenge you to dig in and get to work. Just like Jesus...
