Christ Does Not Give Free Passes

Let us study the following statement: salvation forgives our past, secures our future and examines our present. In other words, the gift of salvation is free, but it does not come without expectations and responsibilities. Many self-proclaimed Christians use the forgiveness they receive as justification to do and or say whatever they want (once saved, always saved).
In the Book of James, we read how both blessings and cursing cannot come out of the same mouth. And, how the tongue is small yet extremely powerful. If we are not following Christ with our words and deeds, how can we be following Him with our heart?
We, as followers of Jesus, need to be diligent and not adopt a mightier than thou mentality. You and I are no better than the worst of sinners (Isaiah 64:6). Luke, who was a physician, evangelist and apostle describes the natural expectations placed on our salvation.
