God's Hedge of Protection

We had severe weather pass through our area last. As I prayed for the safety of our congregation and community, the thought of God's protection stayed with me most of the night. The bible speaks of it several times and eludes to it being something we can count on and will never go away.

So what happens when we do get scared? Or when something bad happens to us? Where did God's protection go? For many, their faith in God only lasts through the good times. When trouble arrives at our door (and the bible tells us it will), God is still present; providing and protecting according to His will.

Psalms 46:1 tells us God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Notice it does not guarantee our safety or promise us that we will never experience pain or suffering. What it tells us is that we can turn to Him for strength during those times because He will never leave us or forsake us!

I thank God for His protection, provision and presence during both good and bad times...
