Is Failing A Bad Thing?

We live in a society of seemingly constant criticism and judgement of the success we are having in life. If you are brave enough to scroll through social media from time to time, it appears everyone else is having an amazing vacation or feels the need to criticize anyone and everything. We are raising a generation who are afraid to attempt anything for fear of failing at everything.

The Bible speaks in great length about failure. It tells us we will fail, how to prepare to fail, how to learn from failure and Who we can turn to when we fail. The central question is: is failure a bad thing? The world will convince you it always is and that our value is only in our successes. As a Christian, I believe Jesus allows us to fail for our own good. It provides us a time to grow in faith, learn humility, gain strength and draw closer to Him. At times, failure can teach us more than our success can.

Psalms 31:10 speaks to feeling like a failure, For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.

Have you ever felt this way? Maybe you are having these feelings at this very moment; feelings of being a failure in your personal or professional life. If so, I encourage you to change your perspective on failure and the "good" that it can provide in your life. As we strive (and fall short) to be perfect like Christ, I challenge you to NOT be afraid of failure. When you work, work for the glory of God. When you spend time with family, do so for the glory of God and when you compete to the be the very best version of you conquer failure by growing from it...
