It Still Hurts

Some pain never really goes away. It may subside, lessen or randomly return but it still hurts. If you have experienced life for any amount of time, you have experienced pain. Whether it be physical, emotional or spiritual; pain is a part of life. Maybe it was an injury sustained playing sports, a hurt felt through the loss of an important relationship or the struggle in your faith; pain can impact each of us in different ways and at different times.

The Bible tells us that pain is an important part of life. It can serve many purposes that are often lost when we simply focus on the hurt. James tells us to count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations. The Apostle Paul said he was happy to suffer. According to God's Word, there is purpose in pain that continues to hurt. If so, how can suffering be helpful?

Pain can help God's plan. Although He does not need our help, thankfully He still wants our help! As parents, we must sometimes allow our children to suffer. The pain can strengthen faith, promote perseverance and grow hope.

Pain can help us. We suffer when we lose something we wanted (job, relationship, money). Sometimes God takes things away from our lives that we are much better off without.

Our pain can help others. Your suffering and the way in which you handle it can be a testimony to others. Just as others who have suffered may have been an example for you.

It is easy to have faith when your bank account is full, relationships are going well and you are enjoying good health. But what happens when it still hurts? In those times of pain, reach out to God for comfort and guidance, He is waiting and knows exactly what you are going through...
