Put Your Name On It

Credibility is a powerful word. The Webster's Dictionary defines it as: the quality or power of inspiring belief. Through our words and actions, credibility is created and developed. Growing up, I was taught the importance of a hand shake and/or a promise to do something. Following through meant everything if you wanted your name to have any power or inspiring belief associated with it.

When our children were young, we would help them with their homework (except math :-). I can remember a conversation with our son Ethan about his poor handwriting. I would have him do his work over again because it looked sloppy or was hard to read. He would say, "but the work is right, why does it matter what it looks like?" My response was simple, "because you put your name on it."

Proverbs 22:1 tells us, "A good name is to be more desired than great wealth, favor is better than silver and gold." In other words, we need to be more worried about our credibility than our credit cards.

I hope you have a blessed week...
