Stay Grounded

Sometimes I have to just smile at some of the most current trends. Many times, these "new" ideas are things that have been done in the past but forgotten by the present. One such trend is called grounding. The thought behind this healthy activity is to literally connect to the earth (ground) by walking outside barefoot or just sitting in the grass to allow your body to absorb positive electrons. By doing so, you are reconnecting your body to the earth or where it came from.
Even the newest of believers (or any reasonable person for that matter) can see the biblical truth in this new fad. In the very beginning of the Bible, we see that the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground. In other words, Adam and all of his descendants are from the earth. It is part of who we are as God's creation. Just like the fowls of the air, beasts of the fields and fish in the sea we are healthier when we are connecting to that which we were created from. Speaking personally, I feel so much better when I am able to spend the day outside. Whether it be riding horses, camping, hiking or putting in a good day's work (which we were also created for) I am in a better place physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Make no mistake, while I am enjoying nature I am not worshipping it. Rather, I am worshipping the One who created the earth and all that is in it. And like you, when I am reconnected to where and Who I came from, there is a peace that comes over me that other things in this world cannot provide.
In the Book of Job (chapter 12) we read these words, But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee: Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee. Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this? In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.
So whether you are enjoying the warmth of the sun, coolness of the rain or reinvigorating cold of the winter remember to stay grounded to where you come from. Doing so will also allow you to stay connected to Who you come from...
