I hope and pray you have a solid and affirming home church. At Otsego First Baptist, we are blessed to be a part of a wonderful church. Our congregation is loving, caring, giving and bible-believing. But, like many others, we also have our share of sorrow and pain.

In fact, right now we have members of the body of Christ hurting. We have families that have suffered the loss of a loved one. We have both brothers and sisters with hurt feelings and anger towards one another. We also have moms and dads worried about their children, no matter how old they are!

Psalm 143:1 is a plea asking the Lord to hear our prayers to Him. It is a comfort knowing Jesus not only hears our prayers, he also FEELS them. For you see when a part of His body (church) hurts, He hurts.

Through Jesus’ emotions, we can learn about His heart. A heart that is full of compassion, sorrow, anger and joy. The Bible is overflowing with scriptures sharing the heart of Jesus. In the Books of Mark and John we read about Jesus’ anger with the stubborn hearts of church leaders and the money changers occupying His Father’s house. In Luke, we read of His compassion for a grieving widow whose son just died. In John, we see Jesus’ sorrow about being told of Lazarus’ death. And in the Book of Luke, Jesus’ heart was full of joy as He was talking to God.

No matter what emotions you are feeling, Jesus hears your prayers, understands and has a heart just for you…
