There Is Still Time

Growing up I remember my grandma telling people that she wasn't old, but that she was simply getting older. Even into her 90s, Grandma Quinn never slowed or stopped her pursuit of living and striving to be Christ like in all she did. There are not very many people that would hit the gym in dress shoes and a pearl necklace after faithfully attending bible study at her home church of over 60 years!
The Bible speaks of growing old. It gives us advice on how to stay healthy, active and engaged in life. Many individuals were in later seasons of their life when God continued to call and use them for the glory of His kingdom. Too many times, as we grow older we also grow less confident in our abilities. Certainly, we must be aware of limitations but never feel like we are no longer useful.
As I continue to age and mature in my faith, it has become quite clear that God has much for me to still accomplish. It is only through His strength, wisdom and guidance that I will be able to achieve all that He has prepared for me. The same can be true in your walk. We are only impacted by our limitations when we try to rely on ourselves instead of on Him.
Psalm 92:12-15 tells us, The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, "The Lord is upright; he is my Rock , and there is no wickedness in him."
In a society that, at times, seems like it simply discards people when they grow old (just look at our overflowing nursing homes); God's Word encourages us to embrace the aging process and never feel like it is too late...
