This We Will Defend

It is more than okay for you to love your country. Doing so does not mean you love everything about it. However, no one should ever feel sorry or be made to feel sorry for patriotism. As we celebrate the founding of this nation and the defense of our freedoms, we must (still) not only be prepared to defend these same freedoms, but also our faith through biblical truths.

Peter tells us to sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear (3:15). In other words, we need to prepare to defend the faith in which we live our lives. We do so with reverence (fear) for God and no arrogance (meekness) or malice towards others. The world seems determined to NOT live out either of these.

Jude, a disciple of Jesus encourages us to contend for the faith (3-4). As a Christian, I will defend God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as the only path to heaven (John 14:6). In addition, I will defend my family, the less fortunate and right vs. wrong according to His Word. I will defend our God-given rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness which are not provided by any government but protected from it in our nation's constitution.

More than ever before, the time has come for us not to shrink back. How far are willing to defend your faith?

See you in church...

Pastor Aaron
