Too Fast

They say you begin to slow down as you age. To some degree, I believe that to be true. It is a natural part of the aging process. However, I do not believe that we should ever just stop. Our schedules should reflect a healthy balance of work and rest, just like God intended.
Perhaps it is the season of life I am in, or the amount of miles I have put on my mind and body. Regardless of the reasons, society seems to be moving way too fast. Everyone seems to be in a hurry. And that mindset can bring other stressors such as: worry, anxiety and self-centeredness. We were not made to pack 26 hours of activities into a 24 hour day, every day. The constant pursuit of "things" has no value unless you trust in God.
Psalm 127:2 tells us this type of lifestyle produces unnecessary and unhealthy amounts of worry, It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows;
For so He gives His beloved sleep. Do you struggle to fall asleep because your mind continues to race? Or, do you wake up already stressed looking at the day ahead? If so, I encourage you to slow down, take a breath and find much needed rest in Jesus...
