What Occupies Your Mind?

Ask yourself this question: throughout the day, what type of thoughts do you dwell on? Do you mostly think positively or negatively (be honest). What makes you think in these ways? When we allow ourselves to constantly think negative thoughts, what good comes from it? On the other hand, when we are able to remain predominately positive regardless of the situation what impact does it have on our demeanor and outlook on life? I am by no means advocating God expects us to walk around with a giant smile and zero cares every moment of every day. All of us suffer trials, temptations and "bad days" from time to time. With that being said, I have good news my friend: even during these dark times, we have been given the freedom from becoming a slave to them. Jesus has sent the Holy Spirit to all who believe in and confess His name as Savior. It is this Spirit that allows us to break free from the bondage of depression.

In his letter to the church of Galatia, Paul speaks about justification through faith and not works. In chapter 5, he encourages us to walk in the Spirit in not in the flesh. In the very next chapter, Paul tells us not to grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. I do not know how you feel, but being around someone that is negative most of the time wears me out. It is exhausting! On the other hand, being around positive people is re-energizing and uplifting and also better for your overall health.

God created us with the ability to think being led by either the Spirit or the flesh; our daily challenge is which one we choose to follow...
