When We Forget

For many of us, forgetting is a common and regrettable occurrence. Some may say it is a sign of old age (which may be true in certain circumstances); however, I think it is more often than not information overload. In other words, we are trying to cram too much information into our brains and only able to retain so much of it!

When you did forget something or someone, how did you feel? Even more, when someone forgot about you? We are quick to justify our forgetfulness and even quicker to judge others when they forget. We must ask ourselves, do we only remember the things that are truly important in our lives? For the most part, our daily schedules reflect our priorities. Unfortunately, days can be so full we forget to prioritize time with our Creator.

Deuteronomy 4:9 says, “Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thy eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons. And thy sons’ sons.” So. When we forget God’s love, wisdom and His place in our lives let us collectively turn back to the One who will never leave us or forsake us and maybe most importantly, never forget us…
