When We Forget

Some say it is old age or just too much information, others will claim they suffer from selective memory. Regardless of the reason, it seems that we can easily forget things like names, dates, schedules, possessions and even blessings! As you think about your ability to remember things, are you only able to remember you feel are important? Does your schedule reflect your priorities? If we are being honest, have other things replaced your time with God?

Deuteronomy 4:9 tells us, Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren. In other words, God tells us to work on remembering what He has done in our lives so we do not forget AND that we can share them with our children and our children’s children.

What happens when we forget God’s love? The love a Father has for his children. Even when unloveable, God still loves us. 1 John 3:1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

What happens when we forget God’s wisdom? Sometimes we forget the success of His wisdom and the failure of ours; many struggle with the biblical truth that sometimes we are not supposed to understand (Romans 11:33).

When we forget God’s place in our lives? Do you honor Him on a daily basis? Psalm 29:2 tells us to Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

Are you caught up in the priorities of this world? Have you forgotten all that Jesus has done for you? When we do forget, thankfully God doesn’t!

See you in church tomorrow…
