Why Do You Wake Up In The Morning?

Do you consider yourself a morning person? For some, there is no worse sound in the world then a buzzing alarm! Or, do you enjoy being able to sleep in and wake up naturally? No matter your sleep patterns, at some point and some way you wake up. Why? Psalm 118:24 tells us This is the day that the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.

In other words, what motivates you to get out of bed? For me there are three things:

  1. Financial - I work to support my family. The Bible tells us we were created for physical labor and even admonishes those who can work but choose not to. I believe many suffer from sickness because their work does not contain enough (or any) physical labor. Think about all of the health concerns that have been developed because of sitting behind a desk staring at a computer day after day.

  2. Family - We were created for fellowship. To care for and enjoy our family and friends in every season of life.

  3. Faith - I get up every morning to thank Jesus for the gift of another day. I try to do so more through my actions more than my words.

As Christians it is important to remember that the gift of a new day can contain both good and bad times. I strive to wake up for not only the good but also for the challenges of life and opportunities to sacrifice.

So why do you wake up each morning?
