Lately, I have noticed what seems to be a trend in modern Christianity. In both a song and sermon, it was voiced that we do not have to go looking for God because He is already with us. Certainly as an all present God, we know He is everywhere. And for those born again, Jesus is with us through the Holy Spirit that dwells wit. However, it is vital we recognize the biblical truth of our duty to reach out to Him. The Bible provides several examples, here are three:

  • Matthew 11:28-29 Come to me, all who are weary and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest. Notice the keys words come and take, we have to accept Jesus’ invitation.

  • Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, and it will be given to you ; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. We need to search (earnestly) for Jesus in a lost and dying world.

  • Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness ; and all these things shall be added unto you.

The world wants the arrow to point at us. The Bible shows it pointing to Jesus. Which way are you headed?
