Don't Get Too Comfortable

Our world is full of convenience. We literally have everything society has to offer in the palm of our hands. Imagine the impact if all of our computers and cell phones shut down. Some of us go into panic mode if our phones stop working for just an hour!

The flesh side of us craves comfort. We want to be warm in the winter and cool in the summer. We want our cars to carry us from place to place and our work locations to be in an easy to get to location. We now live in a society where ANYTHING can be brought to you by the touch of a button: take-out, groceries, medicine, clothing, etc... In fact, why do we need to leave our home in the first place? It is just more comfortable to stay in. TV show after TV show, movie after movie is streamed to our laptop where we can binge watch our favorite show all day long. Some will do anything not to miss "their" show; rearrange a schedule, record it to watch later, neglect other responsibilities because they can't miss an episode. I wonder, do they feel the same way about church?

In the desert, God's people chose convenience when Moses was gone speaking to God (he was taking too long). They decided to create their own idols and worship their own way when it became uncomfortable waiting for Moses to return with instructions from God.

I wonder: how much different are we today?

See you in church tomorrow...
