Get Out Of The Boat

Are you going through a storm today? Have you experienced troubled waters where you felt as if you were going to be lost in the storm? As Christians, we are assured of many things, including the fact that we will face many of these storms in our life.

In the Book of Matthew (14:24-30), we find disciples traveling in a boat caught in a storm due to high winds. In verse 24, their ship is being tossed with the waves for the wind was contrary. Jesus, aware of this storm just like He is in our own lives walked out onto their troubled waters and told the disciples to not be afraid.

Like the disciples, we too can look to Jesus for help when dealing with storms in our life. If we listen, many times God will provide warning signs that a storm is imminent. Noah heeded God's warnings and was able to save his family and restart civilization by doing so. Like the physical sign (rain) God gave Noah, He also will provide spiritual, financial, relationship and health warnings as well.

So what do we do when we are in the worst part of the storm? What is called the eye of the storm can bring feelings of hopelessness when all we see and feel is chaos around us. In this moment, many of us have felt like giving up. And sometimes, just like the Apostle Paul tells the church in Corinth (1 Corinthians 16:13), all we can do at that moment is simply STAND.

But when you think that God has abandoned you and that all hope is lost, the storm passes over and the Son breaks through! And when He shows up, make sure you take time to thank Him and enjoy the sweet Savior. Remember, while God promises there will be changes and challenges in our lives He also promises a consistency of His presence through the Holy Spirit.

See you in church tomorrow...
