Many people celebrate, recognize or at the very least will acknowledge Easter on Sunday. Some will even begin tomorrow (Maundy Thursday) or Good Friday. Certainly all of these play a vital role in the selflessness and sacrifice of Jesus.

Have you ever stopped to think about today as you prepare for Easter? The middle of the week just hours before the last supper, Judas’ betrayal and His crucifixion. I wonder what Jesus was thinking? I wonder what He was feeling? Jesus knew. He knew why His Father sent Him to live on earth. He knew why He needed to speak into the lives of His disciples and He knew He must shed His blood to save you and me.

Now, the time was near. Now, the pain and suffering was real. Now, the doubts were creeping in as He prayed in the garden of Gethsemane. Jesus was fully aware of what was about to transpire. He also knew that His Father’s will was greater than His own.

I wonder if He spent today alone. I wonder if He spent today with family and friends. Or, did He spend it in prayer as He prepared to sacrifice His body and shed His blood for our sins?

Today, Jesus knew He was about to be whipped, tortured and nailed to a cross. What would you be doing today if you knew?
