Peace, Meekness and True Freedom
Usually, The Lord places a sermon on my heart. This week, He gave me three! In the Book of John (14:27), Jesus talks about a different type of peace that is availaible to believers. “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." Are you truly happy with life? Have you found contentment or are you still searching? The Book of Ecclesiastes speaks about the darkness of the world. Feelings all of us can relate to. If we, as Christians, have not found peace regardless of the chaos around us; maybe we are looking in the wrong places.
Psalm 37:11 tells us the meek shall inherit the earth. As you read these words, do not allow the enemy to convince you that meek=weak. Too many Christians have shrunk back confusing the two characteristics. The definition of meekness includes descriptive words like: gentle, mild of temper, humble and submissive. It is that last one that can get you and I into trouble if we submit ourselves to the wrong things for the wrong reasons. During His ministry on earth, Jesus showed characteristics of meekness but never weakness. Even in His brief moment of asking God to take this cup from Him, weakness was not a characteristic of Christ.
And lastly, there is true freedom. Back in the Book of John (8:31-41) Jesus talks about being set free. In that if we know the truth, we will be free indeed. Each of us have been given inalienable rights by our Creator. Rights, by its' very definition, that are impossible to take away, surrender, transfer or give to another person. It is when we submit to the world and its' pleasures and desires that we have lost our freedom.
I hope this message has prepared you for spiritual battle, because we are in one...
