Wednesday Wisdom - Don't Be Afraid

It is easy to be scared. As we approach the fall and halloween, many people love to watch scary movies. Fear is a natural emotion that the Creator instilled in each of us. There is nothing wrong with a dose of "healthy" fear; the bible even talks about the need to have a healthy fear of God, which by the way, many have lost.

I cannot tell you the number of times I have read Psalm 23 in my lifetime. It is one of my go to passages ( I encourage you to have those as well). It starts of by telling us that if the Lord is our Shepherd, we have all we could ever want. Does that mean we do not need anything else? Of course not! We all need food, shelter, companionship, purpose, etc... As the writer of Psalms, David is telling us that having God as the center of our existence provides all the blessings of life we could ever want.

For today's blog, I want to focus on verse four: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. We are living in dark times surrounded by all kinds of evil. The world is a scary place. The good news we have as Christians is with Jesus we do not have to be afraid. No matter what valley you are walking through right now, I encourage you to cry out to Jesus; he is right there with you.

I hope you have a great day; be sure to enjoy this beautiful weather we have been blessed with!

See you in church on Sunday...
