Wednesday Wisdom - The Joy of Giving

Have you ever been around someone who is hesitant to give up something? Whether it be a material thing, a helping hand or simply time (which is becoming more valuable each passing day); many of us feel like our happiness depends on being able to keep things for ourselves that Jesus encourages us to give to others.

Proverbs 11:25 says, "The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself" (KJV). Translated to a more understandable form, this passage tells us that generous people will prosper and those that refresh others will they themselves be refreshed. In other words, when we freely give we receive just as much as the one receiving our gift. So what does the giver receive? Along with a sense of goodness and satisfaction, we also receive the heart of Jesus who freely died for all of us to be saved.

There is a feeling you get that is like no other. A gladness comes over you, a smile blossoms, tears fill your eyes and your heart overflows from simply giving of yourself to others. And the greatest part? Noboby needs to be tagged on Facebook to see what you did for someone because God already knows :-)

I hope you and your loved ones have a great rest of your week. See you in church on Sunday...
